Imphal, January 27, 2011: Troops of 15 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector have reportedly apprehended five KCP cadres from Yairipok Yambem area at around 11.40 pm of January 25. A PRO IGAR (S) release issued today identified the arrested persons as Laishram Subhash Singh (27) s/o (L) L Binoy Singh of Wangkhem Thambalkhong Mayai Leikai, Ponjembam Shaskhan Shana alias Khaba Singh (25) s/o P Thoiba Singh of Nambol Kongkham, Oinam Jeet Singh alias Ranjeet (26) s/o (L) O Nara Singh of Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai, Gurumayum Sanamatom Sharma (35) s/o (L) G Bonbihari Sharma of Keishampat Hodam Leirak and Laishram Chandra kumar singh alias Nanao (27) s/o L Tomba Singh of Nambol Kongkham Awang Leikai.

One pistol with magazine and seven live rounds of 9 mm have been listed as items recovered from the five, who have been handed over to Thoubal police station.

Notably, extra security measures were taken up all over the State on the eve of the Republic Day which was boycotted by several underground organisations in addition to calling general strike on January 26.
