JAC shortens 48-hour general strike call

Thoubal, October 25 2024: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the kidnapping of Akoijam Angou of Thoubal Awang Leikai, has called off its 48-hour general strike midway following an agreement with the Thoubal district police.

The strike, which began at 5 am Friday, was withdrawn after an agreement was arrived at between the JAC and Thoubal police.

Although the strike was enforced for few hours, it impacted daily life in Thoubal, with the majority of the businesses ceasing service.

Since early morning, strike supporters were spotted blocking roads in Thoubal Keithel and Thoubal Mela Ground areas, to prohibit vehicular movement.
