Assam Rifles recovers contraband items

Imphal, February 18 2025: Assam Rifles of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) recovered and seized a substantial quantity of drugs that included 500 gram of opium and two kg of poppy seeds, during a cordon and search operation (CASO) at Kholmunlen village, Chandel district on Monday.

In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the search operation led to recovery of 500 gram of opium costing approximately Rs 70,000 to 75,000 and two kg of poppy seeds costing approximately Rs 1000 to 1,500 .

The seized items are being handed over to Chakpikarong police station for further investigation, it added.
