Imphal, June 12 2024:
Chief minister N Biren Singh is most likely to visit Jiribam on June 14 to personally take stock of the prevailing situation in the border district, where communal tension and violence flared up since June 6 after one farmer was killed by Kuki militants and several Meetei houses were torched subsequently.
Advance security convoy of the chief minister left Imphal for Jiribam on June 10 but the team was ambushed by Kuki militants near Kotlien village along NH-37 road, leaving one driver injured.
The team, however, reached Jiribam on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, CAF & PD minister L Susindro reached Jiribam on Wednesday via helicopter.
