The UCM has condemned the ban imposed on the people of Kom community to cast vote at three polling stations of 20/8 Sagang ADC Constituency of Churachandpur district in the first phase of ADC elections held on May 26 .
In a statement UCM said said that the ban on voting was in sheer violation of democratic rights of the Kom people of
the area.
The statement said that UCM has been supporting smaller communities in protectinf their identity, culture and tradition.
The UCM added that it was not right to bar Kom people from entering the polling stations at Kuki areas on the allegation that Koms are Nagas.
UCM also demanded the Government to take up action against those involved in the incident.
It also asserted that the State Govt must heed the plea of the Kom people to hold repoll in these polling stations.
