Imphal, August 28 2021: In continuation of its crackdown on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and State Disaster Management Authority in connection with the Covid pandemic, State police detained 39 persons, 38 in Thoubal and 1 in Churachandpur.

A sum of Rs 4,900 was collected as fine before they were released later with warning, said a statement issued by the IGP (Ops), Nodal Officer (COVID-19) for Manipur Police.

The Police Department further warned of strong legal action against those who violate guidelines and restrictions under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
