Imphal, July 09 2024: The World Meetei Council (WMC) has condemned the State Government for allegedly preventing them from holding a press conference at Manipur Press Club, today.

Its secretary general of CEC Yambem Arun Meetei said that some of its functionaries were detained by the police upon reaching the Press Club and were not allowed to address the press.

This action is a clear violation of Article 19 of the Constitution which guarantees freedom of speech and expression, it said.
