Imphal, July 11 2021: ICAR has issued a clarification regarding the recent reports that farmers from Kumbi area in Bishnupur district are afraid the seeds allegedly provided by ICAR will not bear fruit after 90 days of hard toiling.

ICAR, however clarified in a statement issued today that the seeds provided by ICAR are certified by State Seed Certification team and comes in a white plastic sack with 'ICAR RC NEHR SEED' printed on it but when a team of ICAR visited the site, they found that the seed in question was packed in a green plastic bag.

Such incidents paint a reputed organisation like ICAR in a bad light and should not be repeated in future, added the statement.

ICAR also appealed the Government to implement the Seed Act 1966 .
