Imphal, March 20 2009:
Strongly reacting against the decision of the state cabinet on the issue of empowering Govindaji Temple Board with authority over the faith Sanamahi and rituals of Umanglais various organizations including Masa Sanglen Kangleipak Thousinkon of Jiribam, Jiri Cachar Sanamahi Laining Lup of Jiribam, Meetei Inat Thougal Lup of Jiribam and Heirem Khunjan Thousinkon Phurup of Kakching strongly condemned and also appealed the state government to revoke its decision soon in different press releases.
The organizations said that such decision of the government is inculcating hatred feelings and fear of communalism amongst the peacefully co-existing civilians of the state.
The newly formed Govindaji board does not have any relation with the indigenous Sanamahi religion of the native and it is not possible for the two to assimilate.
Such decision of the state government is against the religious rights of a community and is also posing a challenge against secularism of Indian Constitution.
