Pukpha festival celebrated

Imphal, August 03 2016:
Pukpha Ngai, a pre- harvest festival, was celebrated at Shekinu,
Tamenglong district HQs with an aim to preserve the age-old
culture of Zeliangrong.
Guisinang Pr, Vice Chairman, ADC
Tamenglong, Disuang Pamei, vice president, Zeliangrong
Baudi (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) also attended the pro-
gramme as presidium members.
Highlighting the importance of
Pukpha Ngai, Ningtangpou Kamei, former president of Zeliangrong Baudi
said that the festival is being celebrated by the forefathers
of the Zeliangrongpui people to mark the sacrifice of the
God's son 'Nap-Maja' who turned himself as 'paddy' .
"Even if we are Christians, our age-old culture should
kept alive", Guisinang Pr said.
