Ritual performed for fallen Mango tree

Imphal, April 28 2022: Utra Shanglen, Sana Konung on Thursday performed rituals for a sacred Mango tree at Luker in Imphal West district, which got uprooted during the thunderstorm that lashed the state in the wee hours of May 26 .

In a statement, Utra Shanglen informed that the sacred Mango tree is believed to be around 500 years old and it bears fruits only in the year when the state experiences crop failure.

It is also believed that the side which bears more fruits has good harvest in that particular year.

Scholars, amaiba and amaibi of Utra Shanglen along with Pena Maiba performed the rituals in the presence of local elders.
