Imphal, June 26 2013:
"It is very unfortunate that the Assembly fails to discuss the recent rape cases of a senior citizen and a student," conveyed the JAC against the rape of a senior citizen while also saying it is unfortunate that the three women MLAs have failed to raise the matter in the House.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club today, Spokesperson of the JAC, Awon demanded immediate filing of chargesheet against the accused in the rape case of a senior citizen at Antelok hillock recently.
Denouncing the clarification of Md Ibothem, father of Md Sanayai in today's paper as if his son had not raped the 65 years old woman of Antelok under Yairipok PS, the JAC spokesperson said that the charge made by the rapist's father that people from the village of the victim destroyed the house and other property, and took around Rs 37,000 is baseless.
The villagers have not resorted to such things, Awon said and added that such statement of Md Ibothem has annoyed the public.
She also condemned the alleged rape of a girl student while also demanding immediate arrest of the rapists.
