Imphal, February 19 2016 :
Governor in Council Approved Ad-hoc Primary Teachers' Association (GICAAPTA) has said that they will
oppose recruitment of fresh Primary school teachers until the serv-
ice of existing 71 Primary teachers are regularised.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, GICAAPTA
spokesperson Arun said that these 71 teachers have been
working on Ad-hoc basis since the past 19 years.
He said that the State Cabinet decided to recruit 1582 fresh
Primary teachers without considering the grievances of these
teachers.
It also resolved in the Cabinet meeting that the Government
would relax one year for these Ad-hoc Primary teachers and
they must appear in the open DPC again.
It is not sensible on the part of the Government to ask these
long suffered Ad-hoc teachers to compete with the candidates
who have completed Post Graduate and PhD, he said.
He questioned how far a man who had cracked the Civil
Services examination 20 years back can score good marks in
Class X examination now.
Although, the respective Headmasters have been sending
reports to the authority concerned that these teachers are still
working at their respective schools, the Government had
stopped providing salary to them from September 2010.
It is not fair for the Education Minister to turn a blind eye
to the inconveniences faced by these Ad-hoc teachers, he said.
Saying that they would strongly oppose recruitment of
fresh Primary school teachers until their service is regularised,
Arun said that they are ready to launch intense agitations.
