Imphal, September 19, 2010:
Standing paddy plants of around 20 hectares were devastated by a sudden landslide that occurred at Chaton village, 45 km from Tamei of Tamenglong district on September 14.Many huts and cottages were also destroyed in the natural calamity, said a press release issued by Chaton Village Authority Chairman Z Namdinibou Niumai.
It added that many pathways and water pipe lines were also completely carried away by the landslide.
The VA urged the concerned Government authority to conduct a spot inquiry and extend help to the affected villagers at the earliest.
