Tamenglong, November 08 2024:
The 36 hour total shutdown imposed on NH 37 that began on 6 am of November 7 concluded peacefully at 6 pm of November 8 with no reported incidents.
The 36 hour total shutdown was imposed by the Joint Action Committee (JJM-NDB) over unpaid wages for labourers working under Jal Jeevan Mission project at Tousem subdivision in Tamenglong district.
Many vehicles carrying goods and essential items were stranded on the national highway during the shutdown.
JAC Oinamlong segment Tousem subdivision advisor, Sangkepou Gonmei said, if the government fails to to meet the demand of the JAC, it will continue their agitation in two three days.
