Imphal, June 16: State Chief Secretary may come under heavy fire from different sections of the people following a news report in today�s issue of a national English daily, according to which the state chief secretary was consulted a few days before the talk between the NSCN (IM) leader Th Muivah and government emissary, K Padmanabhaiah in Bangkok two days ago.
After the national paper, the Hindustan Times hit newsstands in Imphal this afternoon, a large cross section of the people demanded an official statement from the chief secretary Rakesh.
The newspaper report quoting senior home ministry official said �Senior Home ministry officials said that the chief secretaries of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh were consulted on the ceasefire extension a few days before negotiations took place at Bangkok between government emissary K Padmanabhaiah and Naga leaders�.

Imphal, June 16: A youth identified as Heirangbam Iboyaima who was picked up by security forces from his house at Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, in the wee hours of June 30, is still untraced.
According to complain filed by the widowed mother of the 27 year old man, Priyosakhi Devi with the Manipur Human Rights Commission, MHRC, her son was picked up by personnel of the Assam Rifles.
Following the complaint, the MHRC has directed the DGP Manipur to determine the whereabouts of the missing youth.

Imphal, June 16: The Lamlai police station this morning recovered the body of a non-Manipuri from the Iril River at Sawombung area.
The body which was floating on the river bore bullet injury marks on the forehead.
Family members identified the deceased at the RIMS morgue as Ajay Sahani from Bihar.
Another body of the non-Manipuri was also recovered yesterday by the Lamlai police from the Iril River.
The deceased were believed to be among the three non-Manipuris who were shot dead Thursday by unidentified gunmen at Uyumpok.

Imphal, June 16: The Manipur Governor Ved Marwah has assured representative of INTUC to look into their grievances and take positive steps on the deductions of TA/HRA for the Government employees.
These assurances, a press release of INTUC said was given when a delegation of INTUC representatives called and apprised him on the sufferings being faced by the employees and their families following the curtailment.
The release added that due to hike in bus fares and other modes of transportations, traveling allowances is essential for the employees.

Imphal, June 16: The Joint Administrative Council has appealed to the employees in the essential services department to join the cease work strike of JAC and strengthen the movement for the right of the employees.
The JAC further urged the employees of Treasury Department not to process any file on financial matters of other departments and warned those persons involved in spreading rumors that employees of some departments have already drawn their salaries.
Meanwhile, Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai and Imphal East District Kick Boxing Association has asked the Manipur Government to sort out differences with the striking Government employees and take measures for payment of salaries in the interest of general public.

Imphal, June 16: Forms for availing scholarships from the Foundation for Excellence can be had from the All India Women Conference, Manipur State Branch, Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai.
The Scholarships will be paid to those students from class VIII to post graduate levels.
