Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav : Integrated communication and outreach programme held

An integrated communication and outreach programme with 2-day photo exhibition on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on India's Freedom Struggle with special focus on Manipuri Freedom Fighters and COVID-19 was held today at the jubilee hall of Imphal College.
The programme was organised by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Imphal, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in association with Imphal college, said a press release by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Imphal.
Dr Moirangthem Priyobrata Singh, Principal, Imphal college, B Narayanan, Additional DG (Region), Imphal, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt of India, Dr Yumkhaibam Shyam Singh, Associate Professor, Department of History, Imphal college and Dr Salam Noren Singh Associate Professor, Department of Statistics, Imphal College graced the event as the presidium members.

Dr Yumkhaibam Shyam Singh elaborated on the life history and involvement of Manipuri Prince Sana Chahi Ahum @Narendrajit Singh who fought valiantly against the British imperialism at Chittagong during the First War of India's Independence, 1857 .
Unsung heroes namely Pukhrambam Tanko, Meinya Menjor and martyrdom of father-son duo Yaiskul Lakpa and Sengoisana during the battle of Khomjom, 1891 amongst others were also discussed.
Addressing the gathering, B Narayanan said that the British conquered India because India was not united and maintained that the people of India need to be united in order to overcome any threat to this country.
Speaking as a resource person, Dr Vivekson, Public Health Specialist, Medical Directorate spoke in length about COVID-19 and appealed to all to get vaccinated.
Later, an on the spot quiz contest was held and prizes and certificates distributed to the students.
Private Registered Troupe (PRT) of ROB, Imphal, Kangleipak Musical Association, M/s Monalisa Arts and Cultural Association, played a drama on Nupi Lal, 1939 as a part of the programme.
The Imphal Artist Union also presented a magic show, added the release.
