'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' launched at Thongju, issue of price hike of essential commodities highlighted

A people's awareness programme titled 'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' to highlight the issue of price hike of petroleum products and other essential commodities was launched today at Khongman Zone-II in Thongju Assembly Constituency.
The programme was organised by Thongju BCC under the aegis of Preshyojit Sanglakpam, secretary, PCC.
Today's programme was graced by vice president, MPCC T Mangibabu, general secretaries- S Jeeten and Amir Hussain, president DCC, Imphal East, N Ajit and working president, Thongju BCC as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, T Mangibabu said that the Jan Jagran Abhiyan which is conducted across the country under the supervision of leader of All India Congress Committee, Sonia Gandhi is being launched for Thongju AC today from Khongman.
He informed that today's programme will cover Khongman, Singjamei Kshetri Leikai and Bashikhong Gram Panchayats.
Subsequently, the programme will also be held at Ucheckon Nongpok, Ucheckon Nongchup, Thongju Part-I and Thongju Part-II Gram Panchayats, he added.
He maintained that the poor and needy people are facing the brunt of the exorbitant price hike of essential commodities under the rule of the NDA Government led by BJP.
Regarding the numerous farmers' lives lost during the struggle demanding the revocation of controversial farm laws, he opined that those lives could have been saved if the said laws were repealed earlier.
'Jan Jagran Abhiyan' will culminate on November 28 at Khongman Zone -II and a public meeting will be convened which is to be attended by the residents of all the seven gram panchayats of Thongju AC, he added.
