Imphal, August 19 2024:
Transportation of essential commo- dities has been severely affected by the indefinite bandh called by the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM) since Sunday midnight on three major roads including NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway) .
The RNCM has been demanding integration of the villages inhabited by Kom, Kharam, Aimol, Chiru and Rongmei which are presently under Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts with Noney district.
Apart from NH-37, the indefinite bandh is going on at Leimatak Project road and Tongjei Maril road.
Bandh supporters blocked movement of vehicles near Keithelmanbi on NH-37, Charoi Khullen on Leimatak Project road and Ngariyan village on Tongjei Maril road.
On account of the RNCM's indefinite bandh, movement of convoys of trucks and oil tankers with CRPF escorts has been suspended.
There was no movement of any convoy of empty trucks and fuel tankers from Imphal today.
Likewise, movement of loaded trucks and tankers from Jiribam with CRPF escorts has also been suspended from today.
In addition to the indefinite bandh, Imphal-Jiribam highway has been cut off following landslides at Awangkhul and in between Nung Dollan and Shanti Khunou.
Meanwhile, long queues were seen in front of petrol pumps at different places of the valley districts today.
The valley districts and some hill areas are already reeling under acute shortage of LPG .
