Tamenglong, January 13 2010: The lone telecommunication service provider in Tamenglong, Bharat Sanchar Ningam Limited, BSNL is plagued with frequent break down in service and bad network adding to the woes to the people of Tamenglong, already handicapped by bad communication in terms of roads and accessibility.

Many people irritated over the total break downs in its service and bad network over the past 4-5 months are highly irritated with the BSNL and some have even destroyed their SIM cards and mobile handsets.

BSNL Tamenglong provides cell phone, landline, WLL and had recently started providing broadband internet facility but the service is getting worse day by day.

The BSNL had started laying optical fibers connecting from one tower toanother to provide broadband over the last two years, however, the work is yet to be completed.

To upgrade its services, the BSNL had set up towers at Khongsang, Rengpang, Awangkhul village and Noney in last three yearshowever, the result is not a pleasant one for the customers.

In the meantime, while interacting with the Hueiyen Lanpao, Thuandaipou, President of Tamenglong Disable Association said that due to bad network of lone service provider all developments works are getting delayed.

Apart from the BSNL, this district needs other private service providers like Airtel, Reliance etc.

to compete the BSNL.

Otherwise this lone BSNL need to setup more towers in the district, he observed.

In the meantime, the Zeliangrong Student Union Manipur, ZSUM Chairman K Humaliabou informed this correspondent through telephone that ZSUMteam had a talk with the DGM, BSNL Imphal yesterday over bad networks for last 6 months and to ways improve the services.

According to K Humaliabou, DGM Imphal had assured to set up more towers in the district to provide accessible BSNL services to the people.

ZSUM also appeal the concern authority to set up of towers in the district at the earliest.

Further, he also urged all government schools under ZEO Tamenglong to conduct coaching classes seriously to the pre-board students.

The ZSUM will look into the matter seriously and if found dissatisfactory the ZSUM will take up any form of agitation, he informed.

Meanwhile, Thomas kamei of the BSNL subscriber said that the way BSNL network is providing service is unfortunate.

The concern authority need look into the matters immediately and set up more towers or install all the necessary at the station, he asserts.

He also appealed to the concern authority to complete the laying ofoptical fibers works in the district and re-allocate the misused Bharat Nirman schemes to provide the Digital Satellite Phone Terminals(DSPT) for Village Public Telephone (VPT).

It is worth mentioned that as many as 63 Digital Satellite Phone Terminals (DSPT) issued for 63 villages of Tamenglong district under Bharat Nirman scheme for Village Public Telephone (VPT) last year by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited was found to be have been misused.

As of now the BSNL authority has remained silent over the misused schemes.
