Imphal, July 10 2024: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has sent two persons accused of cheating in examination to judicial custody till July 24 .

The two allegedly impersonated themselves as candidates in an entrance examination held on July 7 for admission to Diploma in Pharmacy at Government Polytechnic, Takyel, Imphal.

The two persons have been identified as Bm Maqbool (19) son of Bm Manjur Ahmed of Lilong Haoreibi Turel Ahanbi and Md Mansur Alam (20) son of Md Riyajuddin of Lilong Ubak Thong.

They were produced before the Court after the completion of police custody period by Lamphel police.

The two have been accused of impersonating and using mobile phones to cheat during the examination.

While the counsel of the accused prayed the Court for releasing them on bail, the prosecutor submitted that the two have allegedly admitted to committing the crimes.

The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submissions, remanded Bm Maqbool and Md Mansur Alam to judicial custody till July 24 for further investigation of the case.
