Imphal, July 06: Highlighting precarious situation gripping the general public due to low food stock in the aftermath of the indefinite economic blockade imposed by the ANSAM several social and youth organisations fervently appealed to both the State Government and the agitation sponsor to resolve the issue in the interest of the general public.

These bodies expressing concern that choking food supply would provide fodder to disruptive elements exploit the situation and cause communal tension also prevailed upon Ansam that among the suffering public include several of their own people.

Holding over 25 lakhs of State people is unjustifiable as the intended target of Ministers or MLAs in pursuit of a particular demand would not have the slightest of effect to these wealthy legislators, they observed asking Ansam to endorse the Government invitation for talks to facilitate amicable settlement of the dispute.

Hockey union, Lairikyengbam Leikai in a statement contended that declaring June 18 as State integrity Day and subsequently as holiday is not in the interest of any particular community and ridiculed Ansam choking the lifeline of the State thereby grieving the people of Manipur even though the M letter in ANSAM refers to Manipur.

A responsible organisation like Ansam causing hardship to its own people is unfortunate, said the Union appealing to the student body to relax their staunch decision.

Manipurgi Ngamkhei Kanba Lup (Khumbong bazar) observing that the Ansam blockade would hardly serve the purpose other than put the general masses under duress expressed that national highways be excluded from any form of agenda.

The Lup appealing to all the organisations for endeavour towards early settlement of the impasse threatened to launch counter agitation in case the blockade continues beyond June 8.Expressing grave concern at alarming situation arising out of the blockade, Leipak Kanba Ahallup, Imphal emphasised that State Government seek Army assistance to escort good-laden trucks stranded beyond the Manipur boundary.

Observing that frequent disruptions in the national highways had been a constant threat to cordial co-existence amongst various community the body urged the State authorities to apprise Central leaders on indispensability of raising the Highway Protection Force without further delay.

Joining the lift-blockade appeal, Patsoi Kendra Development Council castigated all the State legislators and MPs for remaining silent spectator even as the situation had gone from bad to worse.
