CM reaches out to Kpi dist, announces Rs 185 cr package

Reaching out to the recently created Kangpokpi district, Chief Minister N Biren today announced a financial package of Rs 185 crore during the felicitation cum blessing programme for the 41 days old BJP led Government at Brigadier Thomas Ground at Kangpokpi today.
The financial package for Kangpokpi comes shortly after the Chief Minister also announced a package of Rs 201 crore for Ukhrul district during his maiden visit to the district headquarters some days back.
Adding substance to the financial package announced for the newly created district, the Chief Minister also proclaimed that the money for Kangpokpi is already at hand.
The announcement of the Chief Minister was greeted by a deafening round of applause from the huge turn out at the ground.
Making the stand of the people clear, president of Kuki Inpi, Kangpokpi, Sei-khomang Khongsai referred to the petition submitted during the CM's visit to Ukhrul to take a fresh look at the decision of the erstwhile Congress Government to create seven new district and urged the Chief Minister not to entertain such ideas at all.
Under the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre is keeping a close tab on all the developmental programmes taken up in the BJP ruled States, said the Chief Minister while addressing the huge gathering.
Elaborating, the Chief Minister said that the Centre has taken up a number of projects to ensure housing for all those.
Projects have also been taken up to provide employment to all, he added.
It is according to this that in Manipur too efforts have been initiated to make the programme a success and it would not cost a dime in including the name of the woman/wife in the patta of the homestead, added the Chief Minister.
Skill development programmes too will be initiated to ensure employment avenues for all.
Stating that the ADC Kangpokpi can now work in close tandem with the State Government as well as the Centre, the Chief Minister said that this has been made possible with the joining of all the 22 Members of Kangpokpi ADC to the BJP.
To keep a close tab on the developmental works taken up at all the districts, an officer of the rank of Principal Secretary has been appointed, said the Chief Minister.
On the works taken up by the State Government, Biren said that all the needed doctors and staff will be posted to Kangpokpi district hospital soon and added that all the needed infrastructure will be put in place.
Out of the Rs 185 crore announced for the district and which is already in hand, a sum of Rs 10 crore will be utilised to set up a women's market christened Henu Market, a Kangpokpi district ITI, tribal girls' hostel, guest house etc.
Steps have also been taken up to ensure that pensions for the elderly and aged people are delivered at their homes and added that works taken up in the districts will be monitored through the GPS.
On the earlier announcement that Manipur will be made a bandh free and blockade free State, the Chief Minister explained, "I cannot just tell anyone not to impose a bandh.
I cannot stop that too.
What I meant was that no body should just announce the imposition of a bandh.
Instead all can come to the Government and air their grievances and see how the matter can be resolved and the door of the Government is opened 24 hours a day" .
The Chief Minister also urged all the Government employees posted in the districts to dispense with their duty diligently.
Development cannot come about without work culture, he said and added that without work roads cannot be repaired, water supply cannot be ensured and urged the gathering to work together to ensure development.
Works, Power and IPR Minister Th Biswajit who was also present at the occasion said that the Government has set its eyes on installing new power sub-stations, upgrading the old power sub-stations, implementing National Livelihood Programme, extending banking facilities to all and urged all to live together in amity.
IFCD Minister Letpao Haokip, Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister N Kaisii, Social Welfare Minister and local MLA Nemcha Kipgen, Education Minister Th Radheshyam,
Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, DGP, Kangpokpi DC and other district officials were also present at the programme.
