Imphal, July 24 2020:
Teachers' Representatives of three schools namely Catholic School, Canchipur; Little Flower School, Sangaiprou and Christ Jyoti School, Mantripukhri have drawn the attention of the public regarding non-payment of salaries.
The Teachers' Representatives of the three schools, in a statement, said their respective schools' authorities have paid their salary upto the month of April only after much heated discussions between the teachers and the authorities.
For the month of May only half salary was paid but again for Christ Jyoti School even the half salary is yet to be paid, it said.
The Commissioner of Education (S) had issued a circular dated June 20 instructing that those schools whose enrolment is above 700 should disburse the salary of the teachers wef, April to July.
However, the school authorities have not responded, it said.
The Teachers Representatives met the Education Minister on May 26 and on July 10 and submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner regarding the matter.
"We have not been paid the salary as directed by the Government on June 20 .
How are we going to manage our families? We have no other source of income other than the meagre amount we get as salary to sustain our livelihood.
"At the time of admission Little Flower School charges an amount of Rs 6000, Catholic School Rs 4500 and Christ Jyoti School Rs 4700 .
When we calculate the amount of money collected, it turns out in terms of crores.
"If the school authorities have the intention they can easily pay the meagre salary of teachers for a whole year," it added.
