Senapati, June 23 2020:
Bringing smiles to many, especially the inmates in quarantine centres, amidst COVID-19 pandemic fear, the TrueNat machine purchased and donated by PHED Minister L Dikho arrived at the District Hospital, Senapati on May 21 .
However, installations and for it to be fully operational is likely to take time as engineers are expected to arrive from Guwahati.
A Microbiologist from Imphal will operate the machine.
Presently, the burden of swab test of all inmates in quarantine centres spread across all districts have been concentrated only in RIMS and JNIMS in Imphal.
Many inmates in Senapati quarantine centres have complained of detaining them even after completing 14 days of quarantine protocol due to non-delivery of test results.
Some inmates lamented that those who tested positive were taken to Imphal for necessary treatment for 14 days and were discharged.
However, even after completing 14 days as per protocol, due to delay in testing results, many inmates have spent around 30 days in quarantine centres.
Meanwhile, an order for appointment of a dedicated doctor along with technicians has been issued by CMO Senapati to handle the TrueNat machine in Senapati District Hospital.
Another set of the most needed machine purchased by the State Government is expected to have arrived yesterday.
The machine will be installed in Ukhrul, CCpur, Jiribam and Senapati districts.
According to Dr Thohe Pou, the technicians from the company will shortly arrive in Kohima for installation and would come to Senapati and other districts.
Dr Apao, a renowned public health expert will be coordinating in the installation process, he added.
