Chingai Cong meet calls for party unanimity

Ukhrul, November 30 2011:
Close on the heels of the impending State Legislative Assembly polls, election fever has hit the voters of Ukhrul district as hundreds of active grassroot level Congress workers from Chingai Block converged at Ukhrul to attend the one-day political conference at Multipurpose Hall, Ukhrul Mini Secretariat here, today.
The day-long programme was organised by Chingai Block Congress Committee (I).
General Secretary of MPCC (I), Victor Keishing was present as resource person and former Minister and PCC member A Aza as special guest.
Scores of prominent Congress leaders from the district attended the day-long meeting.
Luingam A Shatsang, President BCC (I) in his presidential address stressed the need to salvage party integrity and called for unity within its rank and file at the same time he fervently called upon the workers to dispel all the cheap propaganda unleashed by some dissidents.
He stated that these are nothing but only to create confusion.
A Aza, senior Congress leader and former State Minister while recalling his long association with the party mentioned about the rising popularity of Congress party and exuded full confidence that the Congress party would definitely come out victorious in the coming State hustling and further appealed the workers to shed individual interest and strive for strengthening the party.
Victor Keishing spoke on 'Role of units, Frontier Organisations, Cells and Block of the Party' while also vividly spelling out the policies and flagship programs of the Congress party categorically mentioned that the party has since India's independence been striving to uplift and alleviate the welfare of the poor.
He also urged the unit presidents present to complete party enrolment process on war footing taking into account the impending State election.
As for the party tickets, he categorically stated that only the party will make the final decision and urged its workers not to be carried away by cheap propaganda.
He also urged the dissident group to ally with the parent party.
