CCpur Police seize heroin

Churachandpur, June 29 2021: The Churachandpur police last night seized 586 grams of heroin neatly sealed in soap cases and hidden inside the fuel tank of an EECO Van, reportedly after being tipped-off on movement of the illicit substance.

At about 7:45 pm, the Police received an actionable information that an individual would be transporting Heroin Powder to Churachandpur from Moreh in an EECO Van and would be delivering the drugs at B Mualhoih Veng near Mission Veng, Churachandpur.

The district police under the supervision of Lawrence K Munluo Additional SP (OPS) and Shivanand Surve SP/Churachandpur rushed two teams led by Inspector N Thangzamuan, OC-CCP PS to the area.

The police while combing the area reportedly heard some noises from one of the houses at B Mualhoih village.

There 5 persons were found drinking liquor.

On verifying their antecedents, one of them, identified as Jangminlun Mate (23) s/o Sonpao Mate of Nabil Village, Chandel district a/p Moreh Ward No 9 Tengnoupal District raised their suspicion.

While interrogating them, Jangminlun reportedly disclosed that he had indeed transported 15 soap cases and one plastic packet of No 4 Heroin powder concealed in the fuel tank of an EECO Van bearing Reg no MN07E 0105 which he had parked at Demmang Veng, Tuibuong.

He further told the police that the heroin powder was given to him by one Seiminthang Baite of Moreh.

Based on his claims, the Police team took him to Demmang Veng and recovered the Eeco Van.

The heroin, sealed in soap cases and one plastic packet, was retrieved from a false fuel tank attached on the floor of the vehicle after it was taken to the police station.

The recovered heroin was found to weigh 586 grams.

The substance was immediately impounded and the accused arrested at the Churachandpur PS.

Later, a case was registered for further investigation.
