Imphal, November 28 2022: Three individuals identified as Wahengbam Dolendro alias Bungcha (33) s/o (L) Kala of Bamdiar Makha Leikai, Wairokpam Arun alias Naoba (32) s/o Ibochou of Bamdiar Tera Makhong Makha Leikai and Md Burhanuddin alias Zeba (34) s/o Md Kheiruddin alias Shah Jahan of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai have been sent to jail in connection with stealing and butchering a cow which was pregnant.

On completion of their police custody period, the three were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Imphal West II today.

Through an APP, the IO of the case submitted that a complaint was lodged by Leichombam Lilabati of Phoijing Tera Makhong on November 19 at around 3.30 pm stating that her pregnant cow which was kept properly tied at her cow shed located beside her residence was stolen by some unknown persons on the intervening night of November 15 and 16 .

The complainant along with the family members were searching for the missing cow when they learned that the stolen cow was found brutally killed and beheaded at Tanjao Leirak, some 200 meters away from her residence at around 5.30 pm of November 18, the IO said.

During the course of investigation, specific information was received that one Wahengbam Dolendro alias Bungcha (33) s/o (L) Kala of Bamdiar Makha Leikai was involved in the crime and was seen hiding at Kakyai village in order to avoid police arrest.

Without wasting any time, a team of Nambol police station and Bishnupur commandos rushed to the area and arrested Wahengbam Dolendro from Kakyai Tona Kangjeibung at around 3.30 pm of November 22 by observing necessary formalities.

On the disclosure of Dolendro, two other persons namely; Wairokpam Arun alias Naoba (32) s/o Ibochou of Bamdiar Tera Makhong Makha Leikai and Md Burhanuddin alias Zeba (34) s/o Md Kheiruddin @ Shah Jahan of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai who were allegedly involved in the commission of the crime were arrested from their respective residences on November 22 night.

During police custody interrogation, the arrested persons admitted to have committed the crime in collusion with another person who is still at large, the IO said and prayed the Court to remand the three accused in judicial custody.

On the other hand, the defence counsels filed remand objection along with an application for releasing the accused persons on bail.

The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO, remanded the accused persons in judicial custody till December 12 while the bail application filed by accused persons was kept reserved till December 1 .
