Imphal, August 27: Police commandos have rounded up eight activists of different underground organisations from Imphal East, Imphal West and Thoubal district areas in the past 48 hours.

A statement issued by SSP (Imphal West) L Kailun said one cadre each of the PREPAK (GS) and KCP (MC) were apprehended today.

The PREPAk cadre (Army No 31745) identified as Hidam Sushilkumar alias Inaocha alias naomen (26) s/o H Tomba Singh of Keishampat Mutum Leirak was arrested from the said place at around 6.05 am today.

Sushilkumar joined PREPAK through one Tony of Naoremthong and got basic military training at Ragie (Burma) in 2007 .

The KCP (MC) cadre namely Nongmaithem Surkumar alias Boynao Singh (33) s/o (L) N Shyamkanhai Singh of Chingamathak manipur College Road was nabbed from Chingamakhong traffic point while the individual was coming in a maruti Wagon at around 12 noon today.

Informing that Surkumar was assigned to extort money from Government departments, general public and others for party fund, the SSP further stated that one 9 mm pistol loaded with two live rounds and the vehicle (MN01K/5073) have been seized from the individual.

According to a statement issued by SP (IE) Th Radheshyam Singh three members of the KLA and one RPF/PLA cadre were apprehended by commando team of the district from Sanjenthong and Haokip Veng areas.

The RPF/PLA cadre arrested from Haokip Veng of Imphal East district at around 11.30 am today has been identified as Kshetrimayum Nilakanta Singh alias Mangal (35) s/o Ksh Ningthemjao Singh of Kakching Turel Wangma.

One USA-made 9 mm pistol with 9 rounds and a magazine have been seized from the captive who is also said to have been working under the command of one Bicom mostly in extortion activities from the general public, Govt officials, RIMS, Family Welfare, Medical Directorate and Veterinary Department.

The SP further maintained that Nilakanta used to hand over the collected money to one S/S Asst.

The KLA cadres were rounded up at around 11.35 am yesterday with the commando team recovering four demand letters and a receipt book of the KLA from their possession.

The arrested trio have ben identified as Henkholien Haokip alias Lelien (22) s/o Nehsei Haokip of Nongmaijing Terakhong village (Imphal East), Yanglal Guite (20) s/o (L) Sehmang Guite of Hiekon village (IE) and Jamson Lhungdim (29) s/o (L) Ngulkhohen Lhungdim of Dampi village in churachandpur district.

informing that Henkholien, Yanglal and Jamson respectively joined KLA in september 2002, August 2007 and February 2008 through different members of the outfit, the SP also conveyed all three were involved in extortion of money from the general public and Govt officials.

On the otherhand, SP (Thoubal) Clay Khongsai in a statement issued today informed of the district police commandos netting a UNLF member and one KCP sympathiser with the latter rounded up from Thoubal Pakhangkhong Leirak this morning identified as one Leitanthem Suresh Kumar Singh alias Suresh (40) s/o (L) L Mangijao Singh of Pakhangkhong Leirak opposite Gas Godown, Thoubal.

The UNLF cadre identified as Khumanthem Manoj Singh alias Marjing (24) s/o Kh Tomba Singh of Wangjing Lamding Khumanthem Leikai was arrested at around 5.30 pm yesterday by a commando team deployed for frisking and checking duty at Wangjing Bazar.

Manoj, a trained member of the UNLF's 21st batch (No 1419) is informed to have joined the banned group in 2001 through one Pakhanglakpa and worked as wireless operator in MTF unit of UNLF.
