Imphal, July 21 2016:
JCILPS convenor BK Moirangcha has demanded the Government to pass a new ILPS Bill which is agreeable to all the communities of the State during the upcoming Assembly session.
He however cautioned that JCILPS would not remain silent if the Government fails to consult them before drafting and passing the Bill.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a sit-in-protest staged at Keishampat Lairembi community hall today.
They were also demanding immediate revocation of the wanted tag announced against former JCILPS convenor Khomdram Ratan.
He also urged the Government to consult JCILPS and all the stakeholders in drafting the new Bill so that no misunderstanding arises in the future.
Regarding State Government's reported plan to make 1972 as the base year, BK Moirangcha said that JCILPS would spell out its decision after deliberating the matter with its advisors and experts soon.
He further said that people's stir would continue until a law to protect the indigenous people of the State is enforced.
At around 3 pm, they came to Keishampat junction and shouted slogans like 'we want ILPS', 'we demand ILPS', 'implement ILPS in the State', 'long live Manipur' and 'we condemn wanted tag on Kh Ratan'.
Later, JCILPS Women Wing members blocked the road for a few minutes raising slogans in the middle of the road.
