Senapati, May 14 2024:
A survey of Senapati-Phaibung Road was conducted by a joint team of PWD officials, District Administration officials, BRTF, and Senapati-Phaibung road committee members today.
The survey was led by Committee president N Benjamin Tao and his colleagues along with Mathew, EE, PWD-Senapati Division, SDC Neli and Tripathi AE, BRTF/84 RCC.
The survey was conducted at the backdrop of repeated protests and reminders by the villagers headed by the SP road committee to repair and complete the much neglected road which is of vital importance to the villagers.
According to Committee members, the work order for construction of the said road was sanctioned in 2001 under the Prime Minister's special package and was undertaken by the 25 BRTF as work Agency in 2002.Unfortunately, the road expanding to a length of 128 kms could not be completed even after 21 years and the condition of the SP Road which connects 18 villages in total is in a pathetic condition now.
The road starts from TNK Senapati at District Headquarters and is a vital connectivity for many villages located till Phaibung village under Phaibung subdivision.
In the course of interaction with the village leaders, they expressed their grievances for gross negligence and step motherly attitude towards the development of the said road.
Considering the immense inconveniences faced, the villagers urged the authorities concerned to expedite the road construction work.
However, the BRTF officials alleged that the State Government has failed to pay the State share of 10 percent towards the construction of this road leading to the delay in construction activities.
In view of the above, the villagers also appealed to the Government to release the pending State share at the earliest in the interest of these remote villages.
