Kuki ultras attack Thamnapokpi

Imphal, June 13 2024: Sustaining their offensive, Kuki militants attacked the Meitei villages of Sabungkhok Khunou and Thamnapokpi in Imphal East district at around 7.20 pm today.

Taking positions at and atop Sangaren village, Yaingangpokpi Uyok Ching Koune and Thamnapokpi Uyok Ching, the Kuki militants opened fire towards the Meitei villages, sources informed.

Meitei village volunteers retaliated by a firing a few rounds.

One villager of Sabungkhok Khunou said that some suspected Kuki militants shouted from the nearby hill using expletives to some Meitei people who were working in the paddy fields this morning to leave the area.

Then the Kuki militants opened fire toward the Meitei villages of Sabungkhok Khunou and Thamnapokpi at around 7.20 pm.

If the authorities do not stop the Kuki militants from launching such attacks, farmers of Sabungkhok Khunou and Thamnapokpi may find it impossible to till their paddy fields, he added.
