Jiribam, July 10 2024:
Meira Paibis in Jiribam's Uchathol staged a sit-in protest today and observed a minute of silence as mark of respect for Soibam Saratkumar who was killed by suspected Kuki militants on June 6 .
The sit-in protest was organised by the Joint Action Committee Against the Brutal Killing of Soibam Saratkumar at Uchathol community hall.
While the congregation of the Meira Paibis strongly condemned the killing and violence that ensued afterward in Jiribam, the JAC said it may launch intense agitation against the inaction of the Government in response to the killing.
So far, police have not arrested any suspect in connection with the case.
During the sit-in demonstration today, Meira Paibis held placards and raised slogans demanding arrest of all suspected Kuki militants involved in the brutal killing of Soibam Saratkumar.
The Meira Paibis also raised slogans against Kuki-narco-terrorists and demanded swift implementation of the NRC.
JAC's advisor, H Dhoni Meetei said people may launch other forms of intense agitation until the police arrest the Kuki militants involved.
