Imphal, November 08 2024: The Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand (CCDFEZD) and six other student organisations have condemned the assault on the Headmaster of Irilbung High School in Imphal East by a group of miscreants yesterday.

While CCDFEZD said that attack on the teacher is an affront to the student community itself, Manipur Students' Federation (MSF), Democratic Students' Alliance Manipur (DESAM), Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA), Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK), Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) and another student union contended that attacks on education can have serious impacts on the learning environment.

The six students' organisations, in a joint statement, appealed to one and all to respect the people in the teaching profession.

Condemning the assault on the Headmaster of Irilbung High School, they added that the role of teachers in shaping the future of students and society is immense.

They also said that it is the teachers who take the role of second parents in a child's life.

Targeting education is not good for society, they reasoned while appealing to one and all to not disturb the learning environment.

CCDFEZD, on the other hand, claimed that the Headmaster was assaulted in connection with a monetary demand by suspected cadres of an underground outfit.

The Committee said that the Headmaster was assaulted at the school premises itself and the same was uncalled for.

Saying that attacking education is a challenge to the future generation, CCDFEZD appealed to all concerned to not repeat the unethical behaviour ever again.
