'Romario punished for treating women as objects'

Imphal, October 07 2024: The Koireng-led UNLF has claimed that Khoinaijam Romario s/o Kh Romi of Heingang Mayai Leikai was punished by a task force team of the outfit for treating women as discardable objects.

A statement issued by the outfit's Secretary of Publicity M Shak-Hen said that Romario was shot on the right thigh at Yairipok Pechi Chinglak on October 6 for disrespecting all womenfolk and challenging the social ethics with sheer arrogance fuelled by the fact that his family is wealthy and well connected.

A team of the outfit's task force which has been keeping a close watch on drug abuse and immoral activities received information that Romario after eloping with a girl from Heirok had physical relationship with the same girl and fled away leaving the girl at a resort located at Mantripukhri.

To investigate the matter thoroughly, the team pulled up Romario the next day.

On questioning both Romario and the girl, it was learnt that Romario, after assuring the girl they would have Court marriage and a proper marriage ceremony, had sexual relationship at resorts and even inside vehicles on several occasions, according to the outfit's statement.

After having physical relationship on October 5, Romario offered to take the girl to her home but the girl refused.

Subsequently, Romario abandoned her at the Mantripukhri resort.

Romario further disclosed that he had eloped with three other girls earlier and had sexual relationships with all of them but he did not marry any of them.

All these matters were settled with monetary compensation.

Some time back, Romario's relationship with a girl named Roselien went viral on social media and it embarrassed the whole society, it said.

As disclosed by Romario, his family is not only quite rich but also well connected with powerful people.

Taking undue advantage of his family's status, Romario was acting as a playboy and treating women as sexual objects.

If all his wrongdoings are taken into account, Romario deserves capital punishment but he was let off with a light punishment after he accepted his wrongdoings and on his promise that he would never indulge in such immoral activities again.

Romario was let off with the light punishment considering the fact that he is still quite young and there is time to mend his behaviour and attitude, the outfit said.

It said that some wealthy collaborators of the alien rule have turned social morality upside down.

The outfit asserted that it will never tolerate such violation of social ethics and exploitation of weaker sections by wealthy and powerful people.

Owners/managers of hotels and resorts who have been providing space for sleazy and anti-social activities like drug business, flesh trade and other immoral activities with the sole motive of earning money without thinking of the social ramifications will be awarded stern punishment, it added.
