Imphal, December 05 2009:
The Governor Gurbachan Jagat today paid a visit to the International Three Mothers' Art Gallery owned by sculptor Gurumayum Shyamsunder of Thangapat Mapan in Imphal East district.
During the visit the Governor also unveiled a 6 feet tall and 4 feet diameter carving of Shyamsunder that depicts renowned characters of India and Manipur, and named as 'All One Family: Symbol of Peace'.
The carving is made from roots of a large tree.

While scouring through the art gallery where most of the carvings are from woods, roots and bamboos, the Governor expressed awe upon witnessing that tools used by Shyamsunder are of antique form.
Governor Gurbachan Jagat, nevertheless applauded Shyamsunder for his devotion and hard work inspite of the fact that the tools he is using mostly comprise of dao, knives, chisel and hammer.
While exhorting Shyam-sunder to keep up the good work, the Governor also assured to prevail upon the State Government to extend all possible assistance to the sculptor.
