As in different other parts of the State, post-harvest festival of Kut for Kuki-Chin-Mizo-Zoumi tribes was celebrated in the border town of Moreh yesterday.
The Kut festival at Moreh was fully sponsored by a national level networking agency known as National Self Employment Mission (NSEM).
Kut celebration at Kut was unique in the sense that officials of Tamu district of Myanmar and cultural troupes of the neighbouring country also took part in it.
As usual, fashion parade and beauty contest were also part of the festival.
The celebration divided into morning and evening sessions was graced by Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board Bijoy Koijam, Moreh ADC Lunminthang Haokip as functional president and MLA Sapam Kunjakeshore and Chairman of Tamu district Col Kaung San Do as guests of honour.
The evening session was graced by CO of 31 AR Maj KK Singh as functional president.
Bijoy Koijam and Sapam Kunjakeshore donated Rs 30,000 and Rs 2000 respectively to the organising committee of the Kut festival.
The Tamil Sangam and the All Communities Development Organisation also donated Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively to the Kut committee.
The festival was attended by representatives of different student organisations like ATSUM, ANSAM, KSO etc.
Outstanding students of different tribal communities of Moreh were also felicitated during the Kut celebration.
