People of Sugnu ceased Work for a day and held protest removing signboards displaying Chandel district from shops in Sugnu bazar area today.
The protest was organised to demonstrate strong opposition and thwart any attempt to alter the region's boundary through delimitation, said the people.

Sugnu falls under Kakching district.
During the cease work strike, organised by 91 Village Sugnu Protection Committee, all shops in Sugnu bazar remained shut.
A meeting during the cease work strike took several resolutions strengthening their stand to protect the boundary of Sugnu.
Later, the people marched towards Sugnu police station to file complaints regarding alleged attempts to convert or mislead villages in Sugnu area as villages under Chandel district.
The crowd fumed more when they found the Officer inCharge (OC) and Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) absent.
Large number of protesters erased and removed several signboards that read Chandel district from shops in Sugnu bazar area.
