Imphal, September 20: Unidentified gunmen shot dead two persons at different places under Yairipok Police Station last night.

According to information received by the press, the unidentified gunmen shot dead a person near Wangkhem Junior High School at around 6.30 pm yesterday.

The slain person has been identified as Md Najib Ali alias Kalu (40) of Yairipok Phouden Konoupao.

Post-mortem was conducted at PHC, Lilong.

But as the family members have refused to take back the body, it has been deposited at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital here.

PULF has claimed responsibility for the killing of Najib Ali.

Commanding officer of the outfit Bashir Lashker informed the press that he was given the capital punishment for peddling drugs.

Lashker said that Najib's wife is also involved in drug peddling and warned her to stop the trade and mend her ways.

In the other incident, a 29-year old youth was killed by unidentified armed persons at around 7.30 pm yesterday near his Singda Makha Leikai residence.

The victim has been identified as Md Habibur.

His body has been handed over to the bereaved family members after post-mortem at PHC, Lilong.

PULF has also claimed responsibility for the killing.

The outfit said he was killed as he maintained close ties with the army and worked against the interest of PULF.

Moreover he also posed as a cadre of the outfit and was involved in extorting money from the public.

Detailing, the outfit accused Habibur of extorting Rs 20,000 from one Md Mangi of Hatta, Rs 30,000 from one Pishak of Yairipok bazar and Rs 15,000 from one Hameed of Heitroipokpi.

One found hung to death: A 40-year old man was found hung to death inside the complex of the Manipur Police Housing Corporation located near North AOC last night.

The deceased has been identified as Manikumar Thapa (40), who originally hailed from Okhale village in Daolagari district of West Nepal, but was staying inside the Police Housing complex.
