A Joint Action Committee (JAC) has been formed in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl at Kiyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai.
According to a press release issued by the JAC, the girl was gang raped by three persons after she was abducted from her gate at around 7.30 pm on December 19 last.
The girl was abandoned unconscious at a road side where she was found by an autorickshaw driver and two passengers.
They informed the family of the girl and admitted the victim at RIMS Hospital.
After regaining consciousness, the girl revealed that one of the rapists is from her same locality, while the other two persons could not be recognised as their faces were masked.
Kiyamgei Arapti Gram Panchayat Pradhan Rahamani and Up-Pradhan Md Abdul Kather along with some local people went to the house of the alleged rapist to complain about the incident, the press release said.
However, the family of the alleged rapist denied the complaint and attacked with swords and spears, it alleged.
