Death toll rises to 232, positive cases by 200

The State's COVID-19 death toll rose to 232 after a 58-year old man from Thoubal district died at Shija Hospital while the positive cases increased by 200 during the last 24 hours.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 200 persons including 12 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours.
The fresh positive cases were detected at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal West, Maipakpi Hospital, Escent Diagnostics, Advance Hospital, Asian Hospital, Grace Nursing Home, Swiss Clinic, CMC, RD Wing, Little Clinic, Nazareth Hospital, Raj Medicity, Hillside Hospital, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul, Kamjong, Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal and Babina Diagnostics.
The 188 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (114), Imphal East (22), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (6), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (1), Tamenglong (16), Tengnoupal (1), Churachandpur (2), Senapati (2), Kamjong (7) and Kangpokpi (5) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
In the meantime, 189 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (119), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (10), Lanva (11), CCC UNACCO (11), RD Wing (7), Kakching (9), Ukhrul (3), Chandel (2), Bal Bhavan (10), Thoubal (3), Tamenglong (1) and Jiribam (1) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 22748 (general population 19818, Central security personnel 2930) .
It includes 2896 active cases (general population 2690, Central security personnel 206) and 19620 discharged cases (general population 16900, Central security personnel 2720) .
The recovery rate as on Friday is 86.24 per cent.
A late report informed that 353 samples were tested today at JNIMS and 57 were found positive.
Of the 57 people who have been tested positive, many are Assam Rifles personnel.
