IFC and YAS Minister N Biren has stated that SPF Government is always against fake encounter and killing of innocent person, whether is it by the UGs or the security personnel.
Speaking as chief guest at the launch of Smart Card based registration and driving license for Imphal East at its District Transport Officer, Mantripukhri here today, Minister Biren said that the Government is against killing of innocent persons and fake encounters.
However, as the perpetrators of such crimes cannot be punished simply by conducting a trial, it would take some time.
But they would definitely be punished for breaking the law sooner or latter.
He pointing out that though it has taken some time, CRPF personnel who were involved in the killing of innocent civilians near RIMS gate have been ultimately punished and justice delivered.
The Government of Manipur is also trying its best to ensure punishment of the Assam Rifles personnel involved in the case of killing Manorama.
The Minister went on to say that boycott of classes and deprivation of education to the students in the aftermath of July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident is unfortunate.
Without education, there is no road ahead.
The talks being held to end the deadlock with the joint efforts of Government and the Senior Citizens i moving in the right direction.
The Government has also been trying its best to ensure resumption of normal classes.
It is impossible to agree on anything without dialogue.
So the agitators should also make conscious efforts toward ensuring normal classes of the students instead of indulgence in blame game.
''We should bring our heads together so that the culprits get their due punishment and we can move head in the path of development'', the Minister.
Going on the defensive, the Minister said public cannot simply escape from the situation by saying that all the Ministers and MLAs in the SPF Government are bad.
They should think over who have elected these Ministers and MLAs in the first place.
''I do admit that Manipur is suffering today because of the politicians.
But instead of trading charges through newspapers, it would be appreciable if what should be done is pin-pointed'', the Minister said.
He further said that the public should also acknowledge the developmental works taken up by the SPF Government in such a short time in comparison to what the previous Governments
have done.
''We Manipuris should stop being skeptics and try to appreciate the good works', Minister Biren said, adding that none of the Ministers in previous Governments paid attention to the hill districts, but today there is not a single day on which the Ministers and MLAs in the SPF Government do not received invitation for visiting the hill districts.
Transport Minister L Jayantakumar presided over the function which was also attended by Chairman of MANITRON Kh Ratankumar as guest of honour.
Imphal East is the third district in the State where the facility for Smart Card have been extended.
The facility has already been extended to Imphal West and Churachandpur district.
