Imphal, April 20 2013 :
The United Tribals' Liberation Front (UTLA) has urged the Government of India as well as Government of Manipur to declare Sadar Hills as full fledged district at the earliest and also to expedite the process for creation of Jiribam district by clubbing together some neglected remote villages of Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts.
A press release issued by UTLA information and publicity secretary Moses Gangte further appealed to the Government of India to address the problem of North East students being raped or murdered in different parts of mainland India from time to time before any counter action is initiated.
UTLA appealed to all like minded UG groups of the North East to work in unison by shedding narrow outlook and interest.
"It is time we frame our policies on the basis of inclusive growth for the poor and downtrodden", it said.
The outfit also shared profound grief and pain with the families of two of their cadres captured and later killed in cold blood by a particular gang on February 3 this year near Leikot village.
