New Delhi, August 19 2013:
Tribal students and professionals from Manipur and now residing in Delhi recently came together and formed a Tribal rights body comprising scholars, professionals and individuals.
While formalization and its activities are yet to be drawn out, the newly formed Manipur Tribal Rights Forum, Delhi (MTRFD) was initiated to bring in a new chapter in the history of the tribals in Manipur, said a release.
The reason for the formation of the tribal body is 'to safeguard and protect' the rights of the Tribals in the State of Manipur in the emerging challenges and context.
Given the critical situation which calls for a self introspection and unity among all tribals, the MTRFD stated that it will work in tandem with the existing Tribal Apex bodies in the State.
Emphasizing on unity, the Delhi Tribal Rights Body also reiterated that it will work towards a common cause and shared concerns of the tribals in the state of Manipur.
MTRFD stands for justice and respect for human rights, the release said.
