In a significant achievement, Rapid Response Team (RRT) of Ukhrul District Malaria Department under the supervision of Dr R Woleng were able to put the malaria outbreak in the border areas of Kamjong and Kangpat under control.
In an interaction with some media persons at his office chamber today, District Malaria Officer Dr Woleng said that the malaria outbreak has now put under control at Kamjong Sub-division, including that of Kangpat which was in the news claiming some lives of the village and its adjoining areas under Kanjong sub-division.
The doctor who himself had been to these areas stated that after the report of the outbreak of malaria in the two divisions came on July 8 and July 10, RRT were rushed to these areas covering around 13 to 15 villages.
The team thoroughly checked and screened the areas after strategic planning and evaluation.
Rapid diagnostic kit and mosquito nets were also distributed, he added.
The team confirmed one man from Kumram village positive of Malaria after conducting repeated tests.
The doctor said that the parasite was not from this surrounding areas or village itself but from the Maklang River as almost all the affected persons spent overnight on the bank of the river before they were affected.
Woleng further informed that a team led by Dr Athui , Microscopic, Health worker including ASHA and some volunteers are sent to the villages where the RRT could not reach.
