Imphal, June 09 2016:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has asserted that Congress party's victory in 12 seats of the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) was not a genuine reflection of people's mandate.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office, BJP Manipur Pradesh election management committee convenor Th Chaoba remarked that 88112 voters voted against Congress party even though they managed to secure 12 IMC wards.
Through muscle power and money power, Congress party has taken three out of five independent Councillors within their fold.
As such, Congress party was not mandated to assume power in IMC.
Warning that IMC would just rot away if Congress party assumes power, Chaoba maintained that the 10 BJP Councillors and the five Independent Councillors should form a political alliance and assume power.
The alliance should work for the welfare of the people by utilizing funds sanctioned by the Centre judiciously.
BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary Ashnikumar said that Congress party has suffered humiliating defeats in Manipur on three counts.
On account of total shut down imposed in hill areas, many public transporters have been stranded at Senapati and they were not even allowed to venture out of their vehicles but the Government has been acting blind and mute.
Pointing out that a 10 day highway blockade is already underway, Ashnikumar said that the Congress Government is 'self-oriented' rather than being people-oriented.
The Government is something like a mixture of chemicals which would explode from inside.
None of the flagship programmes taken up by the Government of India has been properly implemented in the State.
Implementation of the National Food Security Act is just for name's sake.
Rice for the months of March, April and May have not been fully distributed till date to NFSA beneficiaries, he alleged.
Public welfare can be achieved only when Congress party is wiped out from Manipur, Ashnikumar asserted.
BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary (media cell) L Basanta demanded the Congress Government to bring out a white paper on how the amount of Rs 1817 crore sanctioned by the Centre under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission was utilized.
