Imphal, December 08: Stepping up the offensive against UGs in the valley, commandos of Imphal West Dist apprehended several UGs belonging to various proscribed outfits from different parts of the State since yesterday evening, said police.

In raids conducted at separate places yesterday evening, commandos .arrested three KYKL cadres.

The arrested three KYKL activists have been identified as Thokchom Tondon (29) alias Ningthem s/o Angou of Sagolband Tera Sayang Khwai Ningthou Leikai (army No 4089), Khumanthem Ranjit Singh alias Bungcha (24) s/o Ibomcha of Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai and Thoudam Subaschandra (22) s/o Th Nabachandra of Lorn Pukhrimapal.

All of them were arrested from their respective houses.

In another operation conducted today under the supervision of Imphal West SP at Kiyamgei Marnang Leikai from 3 am to 10 am, Imphal West Dist police commandos arrested a hard-core PREPAK activist working as the Dist Commander of Imphal West Dist.

He has been identified as one Soram Ranjit (36) alias Chand s/o (L) Yaima Singh of Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai.

One 9 mm pistol, Norinco (Chinese made) bearing No 18787884, one magazine along with five live rounds were recovered from him, added police.

The same police team also arrested another KYKL activist identified as Naorem Umesh (army No 159) alias Pakpa alias Venus (19) s/o N Sagor Singh of Kiyamgei Mamang Leikai.

In another operation today, Imphal West Dist police arrested two persons from Kakwa Bazar Maning this morning at around 10.30.The two arrested persons have, been identified as Wangkheimayum Jenny Singh (30) s/o Tomchou Singh of Canchipur Gate No 1 and Sagolsem Pritam Singh (30) S Ibopishak Singh of Wangoi Bazar.

One 9 mm pistol, one magazine and 3 live rounds were recovered from Jenny Singh.

During preliminary questions he disclosed that he had used the weapon in demanding money from one Sunil of Kakwa Bazar and further added that both of them were part of a gang who were engaged in stealing vehicles.

In another operation this morning at Paona Bazar, Imphal West commandos arrested two PREPAK cadres.

Based on specific information that some PREPAK cadres would be coming to Paona Bazar area for extorting money shops in the area, commandos in civvies were deployed in the area.
