Kohima, June 06 2018: 1. It is amusing to see the complaint letter of Mr.T.R.Zeliang, Leader of Opposition regarding the appointment of Mr.Mayang Lima as the State Vigilance Commissioner.

2. It has been reiterated time and again that all due procedures were followed by the Government in the appointment of the State Vigilance Commissioner.

No procedures have been bypassed or overlooked.

The person in question is a renowned legal luminary whom Nagas as a whole should be proud of him on reaching such a revered position in the interest of transparency and accountability of the Government's day to day functioning.

Mr.Mayang Lima has had an unblemished track record in the course of his profession and service in the Government.

3. Therefore, in this instance, Mr.TR Zeliang has no moral authority whatsoever to question the integrity and capability of the appointee in any manner.

Rather, the Leader of Opposition has been producing contradictory affidavits year after year thereby insulting the Constitution of India and the laws of the country.

Although Mr.TR Zeliang claimed to be a graduate from Arts College Kohima, the Registrar of North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and the representative of Kohima Arts College categorically deposed in Court under oath that Mr.TR Zeliang appeared for BA Final Year Exams in 1979 but failed in all subjects.

He did not reappear for the said exams ever again.

4. When Mr.TR Zeliang has been living in a world of lies and deceit, who is he to question the appointment of a person whose service record is an open book for the people to read in black and white? Rather, instead of pointing fingers at unblemished and distinguished persons, the Leader of Opposition should apologize to the people of the State and his constituency for misleading everyone time and again over the past couple of decades for bringing immense shame to the Nagas when the whole country came to know that the erstwhile Chief Minister had been giving willful false affidavits on fake educational qualification without any semblance of a guilty conscience.
