Body of Lance Naik Jagga Singh, who died in a grenade attack on the Territorial Army post located at Koirengei old airfield, has been sent to his home town after full civil and military honour.
Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, 57 Mountain Division GOC Maj Gen PM Bali, DGP Shahid Ahmad, army officers and jawans laid wreaths on Jagga's body at Tulihal airport.
After observing a two-minute silence to pay respect to the departed soul, an army guard of honour team offered gun salute and sounding of last post to the deceased soldier.
Jagga Singh succumbed to his injuries after he was seriously hurt in a grenade attack, triggered by miscreants on 165 TA post at around 8.10 pm on November 3 .
Jagga Singh, who was attached to the post, was a Lance Naik of 107 Engineer Regiment.
An unexploded grenade was recovered from the blast site yesterday.
