Imphal, August 29 2017:
In order to avoid unrest of students and civil society organisations pertaining to protection of indigenous people of the State, all the 60 MLAs of the State should perform their work understanding the sentiments of the public, said Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan .
MLA Joykisan was speaking at the reception function of Gurumayum Robert who won a Gold medal in the World Police and Fire Games 2017 held at Los Angeles, USAat Khoyathong Community centre today .
Joykisan said that Manipur has become restless.
Students, sports persons, various CSOs have resorted to launching different forms agitation for the protection of indigenous people.
The need to protect Manipur and the indigenous people runs high in the minds of the people.
It is with this conviction that many students and youth of the State have launched agitation.
A student, Robinhood also gave up his life for this cause .
All 60 MLAs need to give an answer to the stand of the Government which maintain that students have no reason to launch agitations, Joykisan said .
Agitations have been launched as the 60 MLAs of the State failed to fathom the sentiments and aspirations of the public and act responsibly to the pressing issues of the land, he said .
Why should students and JCILPS spearhead agitation demanding protection of indigenous people if elected MLAs act responsibly knowing the aspirations of the people, he added .
A mechanism to regulate the influx of outsiders should be facilitated so that students and sports persons can concentrate on their studies and strive for excellence .
He also congratulated R Robert Sharma on bringing laurels to the State in the World Police and Fire Games 2017 .
